Chelsey & Toby's Country Wedding at Bonfire Station

Some weddings feel like a performance. Others feel like a really good day with your favourite people. Chelsey and Toby's wedding at Bonfire Station was firmly the second kind, and I loved every minute of it.

I photographed their engagement session, so I already knew these two were completely down to earth. Seeing them celebrate with the same easy warmth on their wedding day made it extra special.

The Sunset We'd Been Waiting For

At their engagement shoot, we hoped for a beautiful sunset, but the light just didn't quite come together that day. We shrugged it off, laughed about it and made the most of what we had.

So when the weather turned out perfect on their wedding day, I was so happy. After the celebrations got underway, we took a beautiful trip up the hill for sunset photos, and this time the sky delivered. Warm light, wide open views and the two of them completely relaxed together. These are some of my favourite images from the day, and it felt like a little bit of sunset karma.

A Real Country Arrival

Nothing says country wedding quite like arriving on the back of a ute, and that's exactly how Chelsey made her entrance. It was fun, a little bit cheeky and completely them. Moments like this are what I love most about candid wedding photography: no staging, just a couple being themselves.

A Ceremony in the Bluegums

The ceremony took place in a bluegum plantation just a short trip from the main venue. With tall trees overhead and soft light filtering through, it was a beautiful, natural setting for Chelsey and Toby to say their vows. It felt intimate and unfussy, which was exactly what they wanted.

The Bonfire Station Experience

Bonfire Station is a great choice for a country wedding for a few reasons:

  • The owners are lovely. They were incredibly helpful and kind throughout the day, and it made everything feel easy for the couple and for me as their photographer.

  • The food is amazing. Guests were very well looked after, and the food was a highlight of the day.

  • There's full accommodation on site, so the celebration can carry on without anyone worrying about getting home.

  • The bridal suite is a vintage bus. It's full of character and made for some gorgeous getting-ready moments and details.
