Dandenong Ranges Wedding Photographer
There's a stillness to the Dandenong Ranges that's hard to find anywhere else so close to Melbourne. The tree ferns, the mist through the mountain ash, the way the light filters down through the canopy in the late afternoon — it's one of those places that feels genuinely removed from the world, even though the city is just an hour away.
I'm Emma, and the Dandenong Ranges is one of my favourite parts of Victoria to photograph weddings in. My style is candid and romantic — I'm not there to pose you or direct every moment. I'm there to follow the day as it unfolds and capture what's real. In a setting as naturally beautiful as the Ranges, that's a pretty wonderful job to have.
Real moments, beautifully captured
Here's what a day with me looks like: I show up, I blend in, and I pay close attention. I'm not the photographer barking instructions from across the room. I'm the one quietly in the corner catching the look between you and your dad before you walk down the aisle, or the laugh that sneaks out when your vows don't quite go to plan.
The Dandenong Ranges has a quality that brings out something genuine in people. Maybe it's the surroundings — the ancient ferns, the cool mountain air, the sense that you're somewhere truly special. Whatever it is, I find that couples relax here in a way that makes for some of the most honest, beautiful images I get to make.
Venues I know and love…
I've photographed weddings at some stunning spots across the Dandenong Ranges:
Cloudehill Gardens, Olinda — one of the most magical wedding settings in Victoria, full stop. The formal garden rooms, the stone pathways, the incredible plant life — every corner offers something worth photographing. Ceremonies here have a quiet, intimate grandeur that I absolutely love capturing.
Forest Edge, Gembrook — tucked into the trees at the edge of the Ranges, Forest Edge has a warmth and seclusion that's hard to beat. The forest backdrop means you're never short of a beautiful frame, and the natural light through the canopy is genuinely special.
Olinda village — charming, unhurried and full of character. The gardens and surrounding bushland around Olinda make for beautiful portrait moments between the ceremony and reception.
Mount Dandenong — the elevated setting, the views across Melbourne, the cool mountain atmosphere. There's a reason couples keep choosing this part of the Ranges for their day.
Not on this list? Get in touch. I know the Ranges well and I'm always happy to explore somewhere I haven't shot before.
Why the Dandenong Ranges…
The Dandenong Ranges draws couples who want their wedding to feel like a genuine escape — somewhere that doesn't look or feel like every other wedding they've attended. And it delivers. The combination of cool-climate gardens, ancient forest, cosy venues and that unmistakable mountain light makes it one of the most photogenic regions in Victoria.
It's also surprisingly accessible. From Melbourne it's an easy drive, which means your guests can get there without drama — and many will make a weekend of it, which always adds to the atmosphere.
For photography, the Ranges is endlessly generous. Soft, diffused light through the canopy. Mist rolling in across a garden in the morning. The deep greens and rich textures of the ferns and forest floor. Whatever the season, whatever the weather, there's always something extraordinary to work with.
What's included…
Every wedding I photograph in the Dandenong Ranges includes:
Full-day coverage from getting ready through to the reception
A private online gallery of fully edited, high-resolution images
Print release for everything in your gallery
A calm, relaxed presence on the day — most guests won't realise I'm a photographer until they see the photos
Straightforward communication from your first enquiry right through to the day your gallery arrives
I travel across Victoria with no extra charge, and the Dandenong Ranges is somewhere I know well — the venues, the light at different times of year, and the quiet spots that make for the best portraits.
A few things people often ask…
Do you travel to the Dandenong Ranges?
All the time — it's one of my favourite regions to work in, and there's no travel surcharge for Ranges bookings.
How far ahead should we book?
Most couples in the Dandenong Ranges book 12–18 months out, particularly for spring and autumn when the gardens are at their most spectacular. If your date is sooner, always worth dropping me a line — I sometimes have availability that isn't listed.
Can you help us choose a venue?
Absolutely. I've shot at a number of venues across the Ranges and have genuine thoughts on what suits different kinds of couples and different kinds of days. Happy to talk through your shortlist.
What if the weather isn't perfect?
Honestly, some of my favourite Ranges images have come from bright sunny days or the mottled light of the trees. We'll work with whatever the day brings.
